Wheaten Hill BESS will support our fight against climate change and help ensure the UK’s energy security by storing clean, renewable energy to discharge energy during peak times, replacing fossil fuel-powered plants with a cleaner solution. The battery storage will be capable of importing and exporting 400 megawatts of power, with an operational lifespan of 40 years.
This scheme supports Redditch District Council’s goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2030 and a carbon-neutral area by 2050, contributing to both local and national climate targets. Transitioning to low-cost, low-carbon electricity from renewable sources is vital to the UK’s climate strategy and must be achieved quickly.
